In a multi-billion dollar industry, no one makes a smoker where you can set it and forget it. It seems like the only way you can get some good barbecue all year round is to sit in a shack at a sticky table with flies and who knows what in the back, or have that one friend who likes to spoil himself on a smoker that puts him out a few thousand dollars (we all have one). Let’s hope him and the apple of his eye still aren’t fighting about the eye sore in the backyard that only gets used once a year…

 

Co-founder, Joey Schmitz, first built his very own smoker out of recycled bicycle parts as a venture to promote Autism Awareness through entering BBQ competitions in DC. He quickly realized there was quite a learning curve. This lead him to create a second smoker using an innovative but old school technology to ensure fall off the bone BBQ everytime -- Steam Temperature Regulation (we like to call it STR). Eventually, he went on to place in the top tiers at the DC BBQ Battle. Only problem with smoker v2? It was a bear; just like all the other smokers out there on the market.

 

Next came co-founder, Esther Kwon. With her college degree in Engineering, and a love for food and design, she thought of an easy and convertible way for all of the Harrys (and Sallys) who already owned a charcoal grill to update theirs with what you now know as the [SMOKESTACK]™ BBQ! Her desire to save space for her garden and entertainment areas for guests lead her to adapt Joey’s “bear” into the sleek and stackable design you see today.


Together, they have come up with a product that not only allows for the average Joe (or Jane) to toss on a nice lump a meat but get something only Myron Mixon could cook.
